The internet is a beautiful thing. Or, rather, what we can do through the internet can be a beautiful, wonderful thing.

It’s very easy to get bogged down in a feeling of there being so much wrong with the world that we as individuals cannot make any meaningful difference. The fact is, though, it’s not so. And the spark of one can become the conflagration of many. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference. And these days, the internet makes it ridiculously easy to make a difference – quickly, easily, and quite often without even digging into your pockets or leaving your home or work computer (if, like me, you’re something of a starving artist! LOL).

I ramble. But my bottom line is this: there are countless “click to donate” sites, where just clicking on a button generates donations from major corporations who benefit by being able to claim they are socially/environmentally responsible and also get to deduct said donations from their tax liability.

I have three such banners on my profile page, and another of my favourite sites is care2.com’s Click 2 Donate page, that has a collection of links which contribute to various causes world-wide. I can cycle through ten causes in less than a minute without spending a cent. If you sign up for an account, you can also generate donations by sending free e-cards, through sending and receiving mail through their free mail service, or by buying merchangise.

Really, there is no excuse not to be active in trying, in whatever small way, to make a difference. One people. One world.
